Abstract:
This paper presents survey findings on Critical Success Factors (CSFs) of Indian public sector construction projects from construction project managers’ perspective. It finds Top-10 Critical Success Factors for construction projects and Top-7 categories of success factors impacting construction project success. Communication in the Project is the top most CSF for construction projects. Environmental Factors is identified as critical category of success factors for construction projects. Top Management Support is not part of top-10 critical success factors of construction projects in public sector. Team Capability/Competence is identified as least significant success factor for public sector construction projects in India. Organizational Factors is identified as least significant category of success factors for construction projects. Top-10 CSFs identified for public sector construction projects include Communication in Project, External Environment Events, Task Orientation, Vendor Partnership, Project Team Coordination, Project Manager’s Competence, Maximize Stability, Technical Tasks, Reliability of Output, and Quality Control. For data analysis in this research, simple statistical techniques such as mean, median, mode, standard deviation, correlation and regression are used.
