Leaders are both born and made according to management research. Leadership has to do with many things in society such as business leadership, sports, science and technology, politics, social service, governance, culture and arts. This specific speech insight brings the essence of leadership from the popular speeches of leaders such as Steve Jobs, Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela, J.K.Rowling, Barack Obama and John Wooden (coach of UCLA basketball team).

As a leader one should be able to connect the dots and should be able to create vision/bigger picture. For example, as a Leader, Steve Jobs was fired from the company he founded at some point in time. Even if something hits you hard, do not leave whatever you are doing, and having faith is more important for a leader. Following are the characteristics exhibited by leaders in work leadership, general qualities, Leadership in Politics and governance, keeping to reality, dealing with followers; and some aspects on what does not matter most in leadership.

Work Leadership: following are important factors for a leader at work:
i) Love whatever you are doing; find the work whatever you love
ii) Do the work What you believe is “the great work”
iii) Have courage to follow your heart and intuition
iv) Live your dream; do not live to someone’s dream
v) Progress comes with change
vi) Divert all energy to complete the work that matter to you
vii) Share the problems with others
viii) Responsibilities should be shared; Opportunities should be shared.

Qualities of a Leader: Following are generic qualities of a leader in practice:
i) Stay hungry; stay foolish;
ii) Cooperation plays major role in leadership
iii) Inspiring people, curiosity, intelligence are qualities of a leader
iv) Intelligence, capacity to do hard work, helping to change are critical for leaders
v) Character is more important that what the leader pursuits the job

Leadership in Politics and Governance: should exhibit following characteristics:
i) Commitment to nation building
ii) Lead diversity in nation
iii) Have partners in execution
iv) Leader creates new jobs, does wonderful work, helps economy
v) Fairly use the power of diplomacy
vi) Leaders create equal opportunities
vii) Dignity of human beings, justice, progress, and tolerance are important for leaders
viii) Power through consent not coercion
ix) Common purpose, prosperity and democratic approach should be leader’s way
x) Justice for all should be the leader’s philosophy

What Does not Matter Most in Leadership? : following does not matter most in leadership:
i) Too young, too inexperienced does not matter to leadership
ii) Winning is not important, keeping effort regularly is more important
iii) End result is not important for a leader, the Journey is more important

Keeping to Reality: following aspects are more important keep the things closure to reality:
i) Keeping achievable goals is important for self-improvement
ii) Leaders create win-win situation
iii) Climbing up humiliations and hardships is important; because they do happen in real life;
iv) Balance between fear of failure and desire for success to be maintained
v) Discipline is needed for leaders
vi) Imagination, invention and innovation gives power to leaders
vii) In leader’s journey, instead of how long it is, how good it is what matters most
viii) Leaders should share the challenges encountered

Dealing with Followers: following are the best practices in dealing with followers:
i) Education and social activities are important for the followers
ii) Believe in time is important; start on time; and close on time are important;
iii) Never criticize team member in public
iv) Leaders should have patience
v) Young leaders have the ability to reimagine and remake the world
vi) Empathizing with other’s emotions is important for a leader

The leaders exhibiting above characteristics come with Humanity, strength and future.
