As Time is Progressing, Transitioned and Made Innovations in Learning from Different Components on my Website Such as Conference Insights, Speech Insights, Industry Insights, Experiential Insights, Flash Notes, and Recent Management Insights. As on 2025, the Trend is Data Analysis and Taking Decisions Based on Data is the Most Sought-after Skill for CEOs. One Should Know How to Identify Hidden Insights and Critical Findings from Data Tables. In that Direction, I am Starting to Present Data Insights from This Month. I don’t Know Up to How Much Extent I can apply Statistical Techniques over Data; however, I will try to Keenly Monitor and Examine the Data Tables and Present the Insights Based on Common Sense, Experiential Perspective and based on the Patterns of Longitudinal Learnings. If Time Permits, I may apply Few Basic Statistical Techniques over data in future and Present the Insights.
Coming to This Month Blog, The Current Blog, Presents the Insights from the data on Poverty, Anemia, Stunted Children, Thin Women in Different States of India based on the Data Points of 2011-2016 (Table-1). I Will be Explaining Insights from Table-1 First; Followed by will be Explaining the Insights from Figure-1. Basically, I will be Focusing on Reading the Data Table and Presenting the Useful Insights and Hidden Patterns in Data:
Insights from Table-1:
Table-1: Poverty, Anemia, Stunted Children and Think Women in Different States of India (2015-16)
- Table-1 Presents the Data Points of 21 Indian States and the Overall India Statistics.
- From Table-1, it is Evident that Kerala State has the Least Income Poverty (7.1%) Level to Compare with all the Other States in India. It is also Much Less than the India Average Income Poverty of 21.9%. Basically, as We Know, Among all Indian States, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu are Top-3 Economies Contributing to Indian GDP. Kerala is not One among the Top-5 Contributors to India GDP. Despite this, Kerala has Least Income Poverty Level in Country. From this We can Infer that, Education is the One Which is Eliminating Poverty in the State. (Kerala Literacy Rate is Highest in the Country).
- From Column-4 in Table-1, MPI (Multi-Dimensional Poverty) is also Least in Kerala. It is Just 1%. That means, Poverty can be of Several Dimensions: Income Poverty, Educational Poverty, Water Poverty, Wealth Poverty, Health Poverty, Amenities Poverty, Resources Scarcity, etc. keeping All these Dimensions also Kerala state has Least Multi-Dimensional Poverty in the Country.
- From Table-1, it is Evident that Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh have Top-3 highest Income Poverty Levels in the Country (33.7%, 37%, 39.9%);
- Similarly, from Table-1, Column-4, it is Evident that Bihar and Jharkhand are having the Top-2 Positions in Multi-Dimensional Poverty Levels in the Country (54%, 47%).
- Anemia Among Children: From Table-1, Column-5, It can be Observed that Haryana has Highest Anemia rate (71.8%) among all Indian States. Here we can Infer that Haryana has the Least Levels of Poverty, Least Levels of Multi-Dimensional Poverty; Despite that They have Highest Anemia rate in the Country. Here my assumption is, Haryana has Rich Agricultural GDP, Livestock GDP, and Dairy Industry GDP contributing to Indian Economy. The Agricultural Waste, burning Agricultural fields is the reason for Highest Anemia Rate among Children in Haryana. Also, this could be the reason reducing Air Quality Levels in Delhi NCR region (burning agri fields). Also, we can Observe that Bihar and Chhattisgarh have Lesser Anemia Rate than Haryana.
- Stunted Children: From Table-1, Column-6, we can Observe that Stunted Children is Least in Kerala (20); and Highest in Bihar (48) and Jharkhand (45). The Reason could be Education and Literacy, No Poverty also Reduces Stunting in Children. If We Observe, Bihar and Jharkhand having Highest Income Poverty Levels and also Highest Stunted Children. That means, Income Poverty is leading to Stunting in Children.
- Not Only that Income Poverty is Leading to Thin Women in Different States such as Bihar and Jharkhand, having the Highest Thin Women in state (See Column-7 in Table-1).Observe the data point of Kerala for Thin Women, Kerala has Least Thin Women (9.7%). The reason is not the Money or Having Highest GDP. They are not the Reasons. The Reason is Kerala has Highest Literacy Rate. Having Higher Levels of Literacy and Education Avoids Thinness in Women. It is not Having More money which avoids thinness in women; it is the education which avoids thinness in women.
- Among all the Indian States, as on 2016, Bihar and Jharkhand have highest Income Poverty, Multi-dimensional poverty, Higher Levels of Stunted Children and Higher Levels of Thin Women in State. The Main Reason could be the Literacy rate and Education levels in these states and the Scarcity of Natural Resources in the states.
Insights from Figure-1:
Figure-1: Anemia among Children in Different States of India (2005-2016)
- From Figure-1, it is Evident that Haryana has Highest Anemia (72) in Children among Different Indian States. It is Agricultural Pollution or Industrial Pollution the reasons for Anemia in Haryana. More Better ways, example, generating Power from Agricultural Waste, or Reusing and Recycling Agricultural Waste (instead of burning it) Can Avoid this situation in Haryana; and it can protect their Children from Anemia.
- Also, we can Observe from the Figure-1 that Assam (36) and Kerala (36) have Least Anemia Rate in Children to Compare with all other Indian States.
- From this We can Observe that, hiving Higher GDP or Having Higher Per Capita Incomes or Having Least Poverty Levels won’t Avoid Anemia in Children. This is because Assam is Having Neither Least Poverty Levels Nor higher Per capita income or Nor Higher Literacy Rate. Despite that Assam has Least Anemia rate; Similarly, Kerala is not One among top-5 economies in India; Nor They have highest Per Capita; what they have is the Literacy rate; in addition, most Important they have is the Nature, Environment without Pollution: rivers, canals, water lakes etc. The Same Characteristic Assam is Sharing with Kerala. Because of these Reasons Assam and Kerala have lesser Anemic Children. So, it indicates that More than Education, we need to keep our Environment and Nature Clean; and Avoid Pollution in Environment. This Creates Healthy Environment for children in the country.
Data may be bit old (2015-16); however, we have seen how to interpret data tables and derive insights from data in this specific data insight.
Thank You,
Best Wishes,
Dr.Goparaju Purna Sudhakar
